I wonder if any of the death threats came from radical Muslims? It is a fair question since many moderate Muslims say they are afraid to speak out against the more radical elements because of threats of violence.

This is one of the most dynamic shows I've watched in a long time and I urge lizards to see it. The segment is entitled "Holy War: Should Americans Fear Islam?"

[Link: abcnews.go.com...]

Daisy's Khan conversation in this article was prompted by Ayaan Ali Hirsi, who made an appearance via satellite. She and Daisy got into a bit of a yelling match. There is no love lost between these women. Ali Hirsi finds no hope in Islam and Khan believes in reform.

When Ayaan started insulting Daisy (it was hard to hear what she said) Daisy shouted back, "At least I don't have bodyguards!" Ayaan said something like, "My life has been threatened!" Daisy replied, "I have had death threats, too. You don't think my husband's life has been threatened?" And then she said the rest above.

Anti-Mosque guests:
Robert Spencer
Rev Franklin Graham
Father whose son was killed in 9/11

Pro-Mosque guests:
Daisy Kahn
Azar Nafisi, author of "Reading Lolita in Tehran" (Fabulous book, btw)
Women whose pregnant daughter was killed in 9/11

Via satellite:
Reza Aslan
Ayaan Hirsi-Ali
Some fundamentalist, extremist freak Imam from Britain

In the audience, there was an ex-FBI agent and the Imam from the Tennessee mosque that was recently vandalized.

Btw, Spencer wrote his views about the show here (cached link) if you can get through this extremely long diatribe (I couldn't). He calls Amanpour bias and claims she conducted a "jihad whitewash" of him.

He insists that Reza Aslan was invited only to smear him. The fact is that Aslan called him out big time on his Muslim bigotry. At one point, Spencer was speaking with the Imam of the Tennessee mosque and accused the man of vandalizing his own mosque "because Muslims have done that before". He ended his conversation saying, "I don't know if you did or you didn't." What proof does Spencer have to say such things! He deserved everything Aslan said to him.

Yeah, Spencer got schooled by Reza Aslan big time here: (from 3:04 - 5:20 into the clip):

Aslan: "...you're on the wrong side of history, and very soon, in a couple of decades, you will be swept, and your ideas will be swept into the garbage bin of history, along with the anti-Semites of the 20th century and the anti-Catholics of the 19th century..."

What, non-Muslims acting just like those evil Muslims The Phobes keep warning us about?

Graham and Spencer are two peas in the same pod as most of the real Muslim zealots preaching Sharia.

I still think it's more likely Pamela Geller/Glenn Beck loving crazies.

Absolutely. Actually, I found Graham far more insulting. He's supposedly a man of God and should know better. He was insulting, condescending, arrogant and bigoted. Reza fired off on him, too.

Daisy, btw, was amazing. At one point, Christiane asked her "Will you move the mosque?" And there was a very long pause. Daisy stared at her for quite a time before answering. Poor woman. I know she must have been was thinking, "There is no good answer here!" But she finally said, "No."

AMANPOUR: When you listen to all of this do you think that you should move the center?

KHAN: No. I think that American values have to prevail.

(APPLAUSE)

KHAN: I think I'm now fighting for American values.

Indeed. And as we say in the city, "You go girl."
